On the one hand, this gatherum of Armenian and Armenian-American music celebrates the generation born between 1903 and 1917: Khachaturian living in Moscow, Hovhaness in Seattle, and Yardumian in Philadelphia, wile on the other two generations of brilliant composers now living in Yerevan. This Jacaranda-commissioned arrangement restores an important piece of cultural history to the concert stage, having provided the radio theme music for Voice of America. |
