Pungent as a walk in the woods, the tenderly haunting piano music
of Janácêk ripples with Czech soul; then rhapsodic scenes
of rural America capture an idyllic summer spent in Czech-speaking
community of Spillville, Iowa, as painted by Dvořák, who was
Janácêk’s mentor and walking partner. Rădulescu’s
eccentric meditations on the source of nature and creation give way
to Janácêk’s last passionate musings about the
life-force of love.
